Insights and Reflection about Tropical Cyclone

•Today I learned that the tropical cyclone a storm system characterized by a low-pressure center and numerous thunderstorms that produce strong winds and heavy rain. Tropical cyclones strengthen when water evaporated from the ocean is released as the saturated air rises, resulting in condensation of water vapor contained in the moist air. They are fueled by a different heat mechanism than other cyclonic windstorms such as nor'easters, European windstorms, and polar lows. The characteristic that separates tropical cyclones from other cyclonic systems is that at any height in the atmosphere, the center of a tropical cyclone will be warmer than its surroundings; a phenomenon called "warm core" storm systems.
• I will apply my learnings and insights in sharing information about this phenomenon in my everyday life to become aware if what will happen when there is a tropical cyclone.
• Learning about this phenomenon are important because if we do not know what are the effects of this phenomena how can we able to prepare ourselves in such situations like this.
• On a larger scale, I will share my learnings in these phenomena to help others be aware and for them to be prepared on the things that might happen during this phenomena.
• I need to know more about tropical cyclone because I want to know more information about this phenomenon for me to be easier to share to others what I had learned.

Insights and Reflection about Low Pressure Area (LPA)

•Today I learned that the Low-Pressure Area, low or depression, is a region where the atmospheric pressure at sea level is lower than that of surrounding locations. Low-pressure systems form under areas of wind divergence which occur in upper levels of the troposphere. The formation process of a low-pressure area is known as cyclogenesis. Within the field of atmospheric dynamics, areas of wind divergence aloft occur in two areas. The first area is on the east side of upper troughs which form half of a Rossby wave within the Westerlies (a trough with large wavelength which extends through the troposphere). A second area of wind divergence aloft occurs ahead of embedded shortwave troughs which are of smaller wavelength. Diverging winds aloft ahead of these troughs cause atmospheric lift within the troposphere below, which lowers surface pressures as upward motion partially counteracts the force of gravity.
• I will apply my learnings and insights in sharing information about this phenomenon in my everyday life to become aware if what will happen when there is a Low-pressure area.
• Learning about this phenomenon are important because if we do not know what are the effects of this phenomena how can we able to prepare ourselves in such situations like this.

• I need to know more about Low-pressure area, its effect in our everyday life.

Low Carbon Diet Journal ( August 20-26, 2012)

This week is very cloudy week even though we have two typhoons "IGME and JULIAN". I conserved energy in many simple ways.

In school:
1. I use liquid paper instead of slashing the sheet of paper when I was wrong in writing on my notebook. To save many trees.
2. Turning off the lights when the sun is very bright.
3. I always participate in my group when we have a school work to save time and to become good our work.

In our home:
1. Using of abaniko fan instead of electric fan when it is hot.
2. Using of glass when brushing my teeth.
3. I’m using my money properly and wisely.
4. I usually walk when going to nearby places.
5. Practicing 3R's.

Low Carbon Diet Journal ( August 13-19, 2012)

This is rainy and cloudy week. I conserved energy in many simple ways.

In school:
1. Practicing proper waste disposal
2. Turning off the electric fans when it is cold
3. Collecting bottles.
4. I used smaller letter in my writings on my notebook  to save many leaves of paper, so it can use again next school year.

In our home:
1. Planting rice plant.
2. Using of glass when rushing my teeth.
3. Using of clothbag.
4. Using of bicycle.
5. turning off the television when doing my assignments.
6. Using again the water that used in washing the dishes, by watering the plants.

Low Carbon Diet Journal ( August 6-12, 2012)

This week is very rainy week not because of a typhoon but it is because of southwest monsson. this week I conserved energy in many simple way.

In School:
1. Because of heavy rains the plants is watered, so we did not water it again to conserve water.
2. Turning off the lights when it is day time.
3. Collecting of bottles.
4. Using of book instead of computer.

In Our Home:
1. Turning off the electric fans when it is cold.
2. Collecting of bottles and cans.
3. Practicing proper waste disposal.
4. Using of glass when brushing my teeth.
5. Using of bicycle instead of motorcycle going to store near in our home.
6. Turning off the television when it is stand by.
7. Unplugging my cellphone when it is fully charged.
